Stages of Group Development

Tuckman has given 5 stages of group development
In group work practice when a group is formed to achieve a particular goal, it goes through several phases of development which has been categorised by Tuckman as per specific feelings of group members

Forming

This is the initial stage when the group is formed by the group worker

Storming

In this stage the members have differences among each other

Norming

In this stage the members have sorted out their differences and come together to achieve group goals

Performing

In this stage the group is working together and achieving goals

Adjourning

This stage is during the end of the group work when the group goals have been achieved
